We moved from the east coast where custom was to start school the
Wednesday after Labor Day and finish around June 25.
Living in Colorado, school starts here the last week in August and
finishes around June 5. The last week of October is vacation, plus two
weeks at Christmas, the last week in March, and various Monday holidays.
State law mandates 180 days of school.
Unfortunately people don't think to check when moving here during the
summer and new kids come to register all the way till mid September,
putting them 3 weeks behind in all their cl*****, and causing
overcrowded cl***** because it's so hard to anticipate numbers when
cl***** are set the spring before.
