No, quite normal, actually: read "The Wages of War: When America's
Soldiers Came Home -- From Valley Forge to Vietnam" by Richard Severo
and Lewis Milford. With the lucky exception of WWII, *every* war has
seen vets get ****ed over. Count 'em: EVERY one!
What's very sad is that the military can be quite fun, actually,
otherwise.
