I'm curious to find out what a "computer science" degree is intended
for, and what the main difference between "computer science" and
"computer engineering" degrees might be...?
My son is entering college and is considering what major to declare.
He is considering pre-med or computer science or chemistry. He says
he would be interested in designing hardware or software for medical
or research uses, but of course people can be interested in lots of
things. He's open-minded about the future and just wants the most
flexible program.
The main point here is he's not sure if a computer science degree is
intended to produce a computer programmer or a network admin, or if
it's also good for a person more interested in research application of
technology. He's taken some programming cl***** in high school and he
has done some programming before, but he does not think he wants to be
a programmer.
Just curious. Any relevant comments would be helpful.
