Just so you know, documented cases of mothers actually lying on and 
smothering their infants *always* involve other influences such as 
drugs, alcohol, illness, or sleep disorders. Mothers have a very strong 
built-in mechanism that prevents them from rolling onto their infants 
unless another factor intervenes. Usually, cases where an infant dies in 
bed with its mother involve smothering from unsafe bedding, or a simple 
and tragic case of SIDS, which would have happened in a crib as well.

If you are healthy and drug-free, you can co-sleep safely as long as you 
have made your bed safe for the baby; no pillow, no fluffy comforter or 
blankets, firm mattress, and an infant bed rail specifically designed 
for that purpose.

Also keep in mind that it takes Daddies several months to develop the 
sleeping "spidey-sense" that mothers have regarding not squi****ng their 
babies; infants shouldn't sleep next to their fathers until they are at 
least three months old.
