Every so often Matthew will go for a few days and resist his nap even
though
he is drag-out tired. What usually helps is going in with a cup of milk
and
we rock and read a story or two, but we make it very clear that after
those
stories it's bedtime. Usually this happens after he's had some disruption
to
his routine for a few days. Around the holidays it was tough.

Also, it helps to have a regular nap time and plenty of advanced warning
that nap is coming. For example, we eat lunch then go right upstairs for
nap. He knows this routine and can anticipate it. In addition, we keep the
pre-nap routine the same and short, but sweet. Matthew knows that we go
potty, put on a naptime diaper, read three books then we have a little
kiss
and hug routine. Keeping it all the same helps him to know what's coming
next and that we mean it when we say it's time to rest our bodies.

Have you tried making his nap a little later or earlier? Watch him very
carefully for a few days *before* naptime for signs of tiredness like
zoning
out a bit, rubbing eyes, a yawn...the first glimpse of any of those signs
then it's time for nap for Matthew. The time you put him to bed might just
be a little off from his own sleep rhythms. I know if we stretch it much
past 2:00 then we can forget about nap time.

Also, ask your daycare provider what techniques/routines she uses. It
would
probably help to have the consistency at home.
