I suggest you check out these no-tip furniture brackets for the book
case and the dresser. It seems more convenient to make them safe then
have to move them to another room.

I don't know why you wouldn't want to child proof them. If you think
it's only tem****ary and a phase, another phase will probably come
along requiring similar measures. My sons are 5 and 7, and I still
have to use these on their furniture because their armoire will tip if
they try to reach things on the top shelf and also, they'll use
anything as a step stool or a launching pad for a super hero.
