doll sets

by Anne Rogers <annekh23@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 27, 2008 at 05:41 PM

We've pretty much decided that we'll get DD some kind of doll and
accessories for her 3rd birthday, which is in 2 weeks time.

DH went to a local independent toy store today and was overwhelmed,
I've just been looking on amazon and am feeling similar! It's 3 years
since we've done hunting for dolls and none of the "brand" names are
familar, brand is the wrong word, we're familiar with the main makers,
it's the name of the ranges within them that are confusing!

Back when we were looking last time, we were looking for DS, for his
2nd birthday, so we had different aims in mind and we still have what
we got then, which was a pushchair and small twin babies, 10-12 inches
I guess, they had a change of outfits, feeding bowls and spoons, sippy
cups and a bag to put them all in, taking clothes on and off wasn't
going to be something he could do himself and the smaller size made
them more playable with as he was pretty small too.

So, we're looking to go up a size level, 16-18 inches seems to be
common, that should still fit in the existing buggy, but availability
of other accessories would be good, high chair, car seat, that kind of
thing. A set which had some basics along with the doll would be
convenient, but not essential. We just want to get a reasonable
underlying doll, we don't need anything fancy, like one that pees and
poos! But I'm not averse to it requiring batteries and doing
something, as long as it can be turned off! Corolle "Mon Premier", is
the one I've found that seems to most fit, it says 14inches. Little
Mommy, looks pretty cute with reasonable choice of accessories, but at
13 inches I'm wondering if it's a bit small.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Any other ideas?

Cheers
Anne
