The oldest of my 4 boys is 15, and our house is a hot-spot for kids
coming in and out. Our house has always been this way, and my
comfortable role has always been that of 'providing snacks (and
sometimes advice)'
Now, new kids come over, and some of them have passed through
puberty. It is suddenly strange to offer Cheese Jax and/or veggie
plates to boys who look like men.
It's disconcerting. The 'MOM' instinct is still there, but (God,
this is embarassing) ..I feel way more conscious of my appearance with
these kids! What the heck is that all about?
