Yeah, we went through that with my daughter when she was 6 - my husband
and I kept saying, "Pay attention!" until finally it dawned us that she
couldn't hear us. Turned out was allergies - a couple of weeks on
Claritin cleared it right up.
(When we took her back for a followup, her hearing tested normal. I
said, "But it seems like sometimes she still doesn't hear us." The
pediatrician said, "She's 6 - sometimes she really isn't paying
attention.")
