Where did anyone say they would insist on one test only or that they
would outright refuse a doctor's advice for further testing? Nobody,
which is why it is hard to believe you are focusing on that. Heck,
nobody is even telling the OP to "stop" at a urinalysis.

It is obvious to most of us that if a doctor and a parent have a
discussion in which the parent relays pertinent information regarding
cues as to why they believe it is behavorial, the physician him/
herself will also avoid pursuing the issue further with more involved/
complex testing by "watching" it for a while, just as the OP indicated
was said to her.

My son was 2 and would have terrible screaming fits, as if someone
were sawing his leg off, about his legs. I had no idea why this was
occurring, but had talked to the doctor about it once as it was. One
night, it was so bad and I got so worried I couldn't stand it any
longer. He couldn't tell me what was wrong, but he was grabbing at his
legs and grabbing at me in sheer pain/terror it seemed. I went back in
and spoke with the doctor about my worries and the intensity in which
he handled whatever it was happening to him.....took him to an
orthopedist, got x-rays, -- a procedure they would rather avoid
performing on one so young without good reason. Nothing could be
found. As he aged, it became obvious he was reacting in that really
dramatic fa****on to the fact his legs had fallen asleep and must have
had the pins-and-needles feeling that he later learned to call
"picky". So, as you can see, parents, together with physicians can
make the determination as to whether or not take it another step
further based on many things - in this case, I could not determine
what was happening to my 2-y/o and it was me who wanted to take it
further to rule out something more serious. Based on the information I
shared with my doctor and my descriptions, he agreed better to be safe
than sorry, but we didn't automatically jump on the x-ray bandwagon
before "watching" for any signs or cues as to what may be going on.
