We have been fortunate not to have had to go through
anything like that, but it would not surprise me if your
reaction is very common. I would guess that it gets better
slowly over time, but there will probably always be at least
a twinge on a day as significant as a birthday. Thank goodness
you have a happy outcome to cherish.
